Conquering the Island Green

On the TPC Sawgrass scorecard, the hole only measures 137 yards from the back tee. Yet, the par-3 17th may be the hole that players fear the most at THE PLAYERS. The hole stands apart because of its unique island green design. The green is large, but the water that surrounds the putting surface on all sides makes it appear minuscule. Add in some swirling wind and you have a recipe that can inspire nightmares – even for tour pros.
